This is my first shared playlist for this blog, Since out of my 2 this one has the most followers I figured I would share my playlist with these followers. The reason I make these playlist’s and critiques is because my #1 dream is to become a music journalist for a newspaper, magazine, blog or anyone really! So I hope you enjoy these songs and my new playlist section of my blog, Thanks! :)
So, The first song on my list is by the xx, I heard of them when I was watching “It’s Kinda a Funny Story”, one of my favorite movies. In the film they have a remix of Kanye West’s “Touch the Sky”, I instantly fell in love with the band, ever since I have been keeping track of them and their new music, recently I spotted this track ”Angles” but remixed by another artist (Bohdi), It has an interesting electro beat but still feels like a soft song, not just one to listen to in a club, you would probably hear it in a chill lounge as well. Although it is quite repetitive, it is irresistibly catchy.
M83’s “Midnight City” is a song most recognize from the MMVA’s (Or whatever award show that was) Nevertheless, it was extremely catchy also, and most viewers were probably searching it on google and itunes and whatever you use to find your music. The band M83 was new to me at the time, but this song gave me a good, lasting, impression on them, another track worth listening to is “We Own the Sky”.
Well, this third song “Tongue tied” by Grouplove is one of my favorites of the summer even, It is the inspiration behind my URL, and just a generally happy upbeat song. It’s become more popular over the past few weeks having the odd appearance on the main radio stations, and of course the not “pop” stations, I would have to say this song will never get old for me.
I found this fourth song “Take a Walk” by Passion Pit on itunes last week actually when it was the free song of the week. I used to keep up with Passion Pit much more after their release of “Sleepyhead”, which is probably their most popular song, but for a while I lost track of them, when this track came out I was more than pleased, It’s very similar to their original style (which I LOVED) but with a new feel, I hope they make some more big songs like this tune.
I found “Apocalypse Dreams” by Tame Impala on Balocks Indie Rock Playlist, I had never heard of them prior to them being on Augusts playlist for the site, I check the site once a month when the new playlist comes out, I try and listen to most songs on the list, and at least the most interesting looking ones, judging by the title and star rating. This one popped up with 4/5 stars and an interesting name and turned out to be an interesting beat, it actually reminded me of the 2k12 version of the Beatles, I mean that’s a lot to say, but this song just has so much going on all at once, yet sounds so perfect all together. This retro beat just really reminded me of The Beatles mixed with a little MGMT I think, It’s very interesting and it makes you want to keep on listening, so overall this is the most interesting song.
The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s Original “Heads Will Roll” is a great track, but after watching project-X and seeing how perfectly the A-Track remix of the song was for the setting just made me fall in love with the track over and over again. I can’t help but want to dance when it’s on, or just party! It’s an awesome mix to say the least.
I have always been a fan of Lights, being from Canada I really do like to support my fellow Canadians, (even the biebs). Since “Saviour” and “February Air”, I will always love Lights. This is her latest track and yet another hit for me, Her style of electro is so different yet so, I don’t know, great! I will always keep up with her and her amazing music.
Coldplay-“Shiver”, this song is from the Blue Room EP which was one of their very first, I recently discovered this song on itunes and fell head over heels for it! I went to their july 23rd concert and won front row seats and my life has been forever changed, for the better! Coldplay makes amazing music, always have always will, they put on a great show and I dearly hope everyone can get a listen at this track!
Azelia Banks is pretty new to the music scene, but I figure, If you can write a song that makes decent sense while swearing that much, you must be a poetic genius. Pus this catchy ethnic-retro beat just makes you want to bob your head, whether you can sing along or not.
Last but not least, the Bombay Bicycle Club “Shuffle”, I have been in love with this song since they opened for TDCC, not that I could go to the concert, but my friends did and showed me this track and it was just so happy and a song you can listen to at any time of the day, It just generally puts you in a good mood.
AND THE WORST SONG OF THE MONTH IS… Whistle by Flo-Rida, if you listen tothis song, you may as well unfollow me, it’s possibly the worst song ever.
everyone’s getting sick of my nearly constant weeping over Coldplay and there incredible concert. I can’t help it though! They moved me to row 1 from 315! I’ve never won a thing until that day, and I could not have won anything any more perfect than that! I have honestly had weird dreams about what was going to happen at this concert for months prior. Like one night I had a dream I was getting a shirt while mackenzie and amanda were in our awful seats and when I went back they were gone to the front without me! This actually scared the shit out of me that night… BUT it actually kind of happened, I mean the moving to front row part, which is kind of weird that I had a dream about that, but I mean I can’t complain! Best night of my life by far, so far. But I mean now my post concert depression is about 100000 times worse than usual, but maybe it’ll happen again? but I doubt that.
So, 10:10 am me and mackenzie and amanda get on the Go train, We arrive in Toronto an hour later, we get a little lost, but eventually find ourselves at the Eaton Centre, we shop for a couple hours, but hardly buy a thing, it was ok though we didn’t want to spend to much money! After this at about 3 we arrive at the Masonic Temple where they film MTV Live, we got in a little early and got Front Row! We were so close it was crazy! We watched the show, we were shown on the show, and then we chatted with paul and nicole and sheena and dave, But mostly Paul and Dave, Paul was talking to me and Dave was tweeting me, Then the “pump up” guy Derek was talking to me and was like “You should come back more often!! Your fun!!” Then we were talking about internships and he said he could hook me up! After we left we were so giddy, I mean really it’s the only show I watch so I was pretty stoked to be there, rightfully so I think though!:) After this we made Our way over to the ACC for the coldplay concert, we bought shirts got some free wristbands and went to our awful seats 5 rows from the back! We couldn’t care less though, because at least we were there, I was just grateful for that! Then Amanda and mackenzie go to get some pizza and I stay to watch the stuff, right when they walk back a guy working for the concert, like a roadie of some sort, he comes up to us, hes talking to us about how far our seats are and how coldplay is just going to look like specs of dust from here. Then, out of nowhere he asks how many of us there are, we say 3, he tells us how his job is to find there biggest fans and put them right up in the front, Then he asks who the biggest fan is, I say myself because I have honestly been listening to them since I was like 6, so he says if I could name 3 songs of the X&Y album, the seats are mine, So I name off speed of sound, and X&Y, and of course I can’t think of anymore, so I’m freaking out, but then he gives us a hint and it comes to me, so I pretty much screamed “FIX YOU!!!!!” and then he said congratulations and gave us the tickets, I was screaming and crying and I gave him a HUGE hug, because he pretty much made my life complete to say the least. We literally ran to the front row through the ACC and we were screaming and pretty much crying, it was soooo exciting. When we got there We could not sit down, mackenzie and amanda couldn’t even eat there pizza they were too exciting that this was actually happening. It was unreal. at 9:00 Coldplay came on starting with hurts like heaven and went through all my favorites (except Talk and Life in technicolor II) But the entire time I was screaming and dancing and just belting out all the words, I got incredible pictures and made eye contact with all three of the band members, IT was crazy. I still can’t believe it. BEST NIGHT EVER.
